Fragile was created to donate to an auction to raise money for the Japan Quake - it is organised by bloggers for Japan and runs on the 26th of March at the Horatia on Holloway Road London. Details are on the facebook page here... [link] Hope it manages to help in a little way.
I have a personal love for floral designs, portraits of lovely ladies and muted colors. This picture contains all three elements, making a very sensitive portrait.
The position of the head, and the color scheme really communicate a melancholy mood. The overall sketchiness of the piece is particularly a nice touch, over-rendering this picture would have been a mistake, and it would have detracted from the delicate beauty of the portrait. You can just feel the love the artist had for the subject.
I would have loved this picture's file size and format to be a little bigger, since the details sort of get "lost" in the trip between the actual work, scanning and uploading. I'd hate to see such a fine piece hampered by little scanning issues like that. (I know this from experience, I have yet to master the art of scanning myself)
Besides the scanning issue, this is a very competent piece, and I'd love to see similar pictures like it. Good Job!
