I have tried to illustrate how this doubles sided drawing works using an animated GIF, Just click on the magnifier to see the animation - please allow the image to load and it should cycle through it's lit and unlit stages - basically I have made a home made lightbox which displays a double sided drawing when you pull the cord on the box. This particular drawing illustrates a fear of moths - when you pull the cord - you switch the light on revealing a flurry of moths attracted by the light ...

I've got a question (if you don't mind it): Is it a greasy mark in the grey place, where the light is clearer?

I've used all types - depends what was cooking at the time.. maybe sunflower oil.. the key is stopping it at the line
