In the studio - drawing out some new work for September's exhibition @ Inkd Gallery - listening to Solid Steel Radio and digging Pelham 123 with Leonard Nimmoy's Marionette Inc overdub ... awesome DJ Food mix
I love how you create a picture of a person, with random little scratches and scribbles and shapes. To me; the scribbles signify stress and/or frustrations or irritations. The shards of glass could be feeling shattered in some way. the sharp shapes could potrait stress and painful memories. The solid almost door looking shapes could be blocks of fear or some kind of block in the their life, holding this person back. There could be so many meanings, depending on the person who is looking at the picture, and their personal journey.
I pesonally really love your art...It feels like, to me that someones mental and emotional stresses of life are being potrayed in a beautiful way. when you add color and splashes it gives it more life and emotion, depending on the colors you use. with some of your pics I feel like I can feel the depths of their soul coming through a potrait. ~ Amazing and beautiful Art ~
Thank you - it sounds like you have connected to some of the work in a strong way. It is always comforting when you put emotional energy into work that people are able to somehow get it from the work. I really appreciate your comments and observations. Some of the symbolism in the work is direct and obvious but you have picked up on emotions both put in by myself and those that you have from your own experience of looking at the work. Thank you.
Thank you, that's not negative at all, I know what you mean and I feel the same about many pieces... if I could keep both the sketch and the finished piece.. that would be an ideal world.. I think that is one of the reasons why I photograph my work at the drawing stage!
