This is an excellent drawing but the composition feels very static. I would like to see a background or even a frame to give the face some sort of context. Another option would be to try cropping it in different ways. For instance, if you were to zoom in close enough to crop the top of the head, that would place much greater emphasis on the eyes. Similarly, cropping the right side of the page would make one wonder what she is looking at. I like your choice of colors here. They add variety to the piece without distracting from the line work.
The detail and the technical aspect of the work is amazingly well done (10\10), but it kinda lacks an emotion or idea.. the first time you see it, you get the "wow" effect because of the beauty. after looking at all the beautiful details, you're left with a blank feeling... as if you drew a nice face with impressive technique, but the face has no expression. I've noticed that at your other work too, maybe beside "heartache" and "brave", and I wondered if you are just interested in the technique or you intend to pass a massage. I'd love to know what it means to you.
Hi Odelia, thanks for your critique - really thoughtful - In answer I would say my work is highly personal - it includes symbolism which is relevant to me and sometimes this may communicate to the viewer. I have no interest in technique. My work is more driven by spontaneity and exploring the link between drawing and unconscious mark making, it relates to automatic drawing process and is much a method of discovery for me as it is for the viewer. You can find more details about the process of working at my blog and website www.carnegriffiths.com - Cheers and thanks for the critique
(sorry for posting it a a regular comment too)
