The Tempest -Hand drawn with Ink and Tea on Paper

The tempest is drawn with calligraphy ink and graphite on heavy 535gsm bockingford watercolour paper and washed with layers of tea.  I have uploaded this image to show some of the floral detail that goes into my work - I aim to create an image, that from a distance hangs together and reads well - but on closer inspection is constructed entirely by natural elements, flora, flowing lines, branches twigs roots and earth..   The Tempest refers to the strength in nature's storms - and the extremes of weather that shape our environment.  As we become further removed from nature it is forceful moments such as storms that remind us that we are at the mercy of our planets natural events.  I normally share images of the development of these pieces on instagram or facebook - you can follow as carnegriff on instagram and Carne Griffiths Artist on Facebook - Thanks!
